Our first nature day was a complete success! The children explored the surroundings, played games, and created nature journals. These weekly free play times are crucial for fostering creativity and connection. We have always believed in this, but after reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, in which he convincingly explains how important free play is for child development – defined as: children play freely for the sake of playing, ideally in nature, in mixed-age groups, and with little to no supervision – we feel even more confident that these three hours per week are an essential component of our children's education.
Adventures in the forest: Our Lumos kids discover nature playfully while promoting their creativity and cooperation.
A weekly exploration of nature: In addition to free play, there was an exciting mushroom adventure up close yesterday!
